How to Block a Buyer on eBay — Step-by-Step
Log in to your eBay account and click My eBay in the top navigation bar.
Select Account from the My eBay dropdown menu, then click Site Preferences in the left-hand sidebar.
Scroll to the Buyer Requirements section and click Show to expand it. Then click Edit.
At the bottom of the Buyer Requirements page, find and click the link: 'Block buyers with a specific username'.
In the text field provided, type the exact eBay username of the buyer you want to block. To block multiple buyers, separate usernames with commas.
Click Submit. The buyer is now blocked from bidding on or purchasing any of your current and future eBay listings.
Does the Buyer Know They Have Been Blocked on eBay?
No. eBay does not send a notification to a buyer when a seller blocks them. The buyer will only discover the block when they try to purchase or bid on one of your listings — at which point they will see an error message stating they cannot complete the transaction. The block is silent and immediate.
Can a Blocked Buyer Still See My eBay Listings?
Yes. Blocking a buyer does not hide your listings from them. Your listings remain visible in search results and on your seller profile. The block only prevents the buyer from purchasing or placing a bid. They can still view your listings, add items to their watchlist, and send you messages through eBay’s messaging system.
How Many Buyers Can I Block on eBay?
eBay allows sellers to add up to 5,000 usernames to their Blocked Buyers List. The list can be managed at any time — you can add new usernames or remove existing ones. There is no penalty for blocking buyers, and the block is private between the seller and eBay’s system.
How to Unblock a Buyer on eBay
To remove a block: go to My eBay > Account > Site Preferences > Buyer Requirements > Block buyers with a specific username. Find the username in your blocked list, delete it, and click Submit. The buyer will immediately be able to purchase from your listings again.
